Follow the red carpet back in time and, like today, you would find famous people wearing garments with lace, always lace. There was a time when no beautiful dress was without lace. Today, lace is returning to high fashion. In the year when Idrija celebrates the 250^th anniversary of its theatre building and the 130^th anniversary of the Drama Association, the Idrija Lace Festival will be visited by famous people from the world of theatre whom Idrija once already knew or knows them today. Wearing lace, of course.

Directed by Ana Kržišnik Blažica, the performance will be acted by the Idrija Drama Association members, Jurij Vega Grammar School students, the Idrija Lacemaker Association members, and a special guest.

The nimble fingers of young lacemakers skilfully spin bobbins and are not perturbed by curious visitors’ glances. Actually, dear visitors, take this opportunity and ask the children why they like to make lace. Just maybe, an original answer will forever stay in your memory.

Experienced lace-makers will display their masterpieces to passing-by visitors who will be able to ask them about the secrets of excellent lace-making.

Every year, the Idrija Lace Festival hosts a traditional Fair of Cottage Industry and Handicraft Products and Bobbin Lace-Making Equipment, which is primarily intended for producers of Idrija lace and lace-making equipment as well as for other artists who creatively apply Idrija lace in their artistic work. Every year, numerous artists from Slovenia and abroad are presented at the Fair. Visiting the Fair is an excellent opportunity to buy products with Idrija lace, lace-making equipment, handicraft products, appropriate gifts, clothing, fashion accessories, jewellery, cosmetics and local culinary specialties.

You can take a walk along the footsteps of the Idrija miners. The guides will take you through the mysterious underground world of the quick silver mine, to hidden corners with precious cinnabar ore and drops of indigenous quick silver as well as to the unique underground chapel. Through narration and anecdotes, the visitors will get to know the work and life of the miners.

You can continue your tour at the Hg Smeltery and walk through the interactive and educational quick silver exhibition. In this way, you will see the entire pathway of the ore from the mine to the smeltery. Through experiments, animations, videos and equipment, you will get to know and experience the importance of the unique liquid metal that has changed the world and influenced the development of human civilization.

Idrija Heritage Centre invites you again to the RECREATION RUNNING RACE FOR GOLDEN BOBBIN, which will be held as part of the 37^th Idrija Lace Festival. The sports event is intended for all sport lovers, for both young people and people young in the heart, for families, friends, clubs, and companies. The purpose of the Race is primarily active enjoyment of the rich Idrija heritage and the relaxed festival atmosphere.

The route of the 5 km race track goes along the Rake water canal up to the Kobila dam and back. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced runners of all age groups.

This year too, we will organize the race for children under the age of 5. That is why we are especially inviting all the youngest runners to join us and win their first Golden Bobbin.

The game of tombola or its English version “bingo” is a very popular social game. It attracts a variety of both players and fans. It is a game enjoyed by all generations.

This year, the tombola will be held at the 37^th Idrija Lace Festival on Saturday, June 16 at 5 PM at St. Ahacius' Square. Tombola will be hosted by the amusing and entertaining host Toni Cahunek. The visitors will be able to get the tombola tickets exclusively at the sales stands on Saturday, 16 June from 9 AM to 5 PM, for each purchase over 5 Euros. Attractive prizes will be waiting for you.
