For 140 years the Idrija School of Lace has incessantly strived to preserve, hand down and develop the art of bobbin lace making. Each year more than 400 children and youth, and more than 150 adults learn to make bobbin lace! The number of visitors to school lace exhibitions exceeds one thousand every year. The visitors can also try their hand at lace making. The School’s range of products includes many quality pieces with authentic Idrija lace design, publications, patterns, accessories and materials for lace making.

The Studio offerscopyright bobbin lace and unique pieces with lace applications, different puzzles with bobbin lace, clothing, fashionable and historic clothes made according to written records and photos of our ancestors, and business gifts. All unique pieces are made in the traditional bobbin lace technique and refined with Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, metal and wooden elements and sea shells. Unique lace pieces come with a Duo certificate and are made by Lidija Anzelm, Urška Guček Pagon and Pia Anzelm.

The Gallery has been designing and making exclusive curtains, business presents, table cloths, souvenirs and eye-catching accessories with Idrija lace since 1995. GALERIJA IDRIJSKE ČIPKE, the sales gallery located in Ljubljana, offers Idrija lace with geographical indication and made in the traditional manner. Among the works of greater importance, one has to mention the ceremonial gift of the Republic of Slovenia to the Japanese court on the occasion of princess Sajako’s wedding in 2006 (bobbin lace gloves and ornamental handkerchief), as well as bedding with Idrija lace that the Republic of Slovenia gave with a cradle to the British court when prince George Alexander Louis was born.

The beginnings of the company date to the distant year of 1875. To this day the cultural heritage has been lovingly preserved in numerous patterns that are still made and adorn table cloths. Great attention is paid to the quality materials and state-of-the-art lace making. New patterns are designed and made, especially with accessories such as jewellery, scarves … Lace making techniques that are used are characteristic of Idrija and applied to modern materials.

This family run company established in 1991 combines architecture, design and a sales gallery of Idrija lace. The latter is made according to traditional and individually designed patterns that are also used in textiles, interior furniture and originally packed business presents with hand written inscriptions. The company takes part in both domestic and international exhibitions and events. In 2012 Studio Koder d.o.o. was presented with a prestigious Zlata vitica award given by the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia.

Tina Koder Grajzar, BA in Textile and Fashion Design, has been designing modern Idrija lace protected by copy right and products with lace application since 2006. The sales gallery in Krakovska ulica 22 in Ljubljana always offers some products from its permanent stock, although arrangements can be made for original, copyright lace. The sales gallery organizes courses in bobbin lace making and drawing of patterns on a regular basis. A selection of products made by Tina Koder Gajzar can also be found in Studio Koder’s sales gallery in Idrija.

The small shop offers exquisite products made by different local manufacturers, studios, small shops and miscellaneous societies which create with Idrija lace. In addition, they also offer a special Visit Idrija gift set (lace and mercury) which combines lovely products and accessories. The gift sets and souvenirs are annually supplemented with new products. The latest offer includes sweets with lace, accessories, useful office equipment adorned with lace and original gifts for different occasions.
